SmartMix Tips Print

  • 0

If you follow the below tips for SmartMix and allow a couple of weeks for enough data to come in, SmartMix will play a noticable better mix without repeating the same artist in a give period. You can further manage SmartMix under Server Settings, and toggle on/off from your dashboard. Smartmix will automatically regenerate a fresh mix every 30 minutes, at the top and bottom of each hour. You can always check out the current playlist from your Centova panel under media. Just click on the SmartMix playlist you made (you'll need to refresh every 30 min or so to view the new playlist if auto SmartMix is enabled.

  • SmartMix will not repeat any artist that has played in the last 25 songs by default (you can modify the ration under Server Settings > Smartmix)
  • You can click on the Re-Mix button to re-generrate the playlist with a fresh mix at anytime and view a custom report so you can see how SHOUTcast Widgets was able to build each list. The system will automatically remix every 30 minutes.
  • SmartMix will scan your Centova folder (usually /media) for matching artist for the most popular tracks. In addition, introduce new music that has yet to be voted on.
  • If you would like to run Ads or Station IDS in addition to Smartmix, it is recommended you set your Centova Smartmix playlist as a General Rotation and In Order. Set the weight to the max 20 and your station id or ads playlist however you like. You can run other playlists in addition to SMARTMIX, however the upcoming tracks at the top of the dashboard will not be correct. SMARTMIX is designed to be the only playlist running.
  • Ensure the system is adding enough media to your SMARTMIX playlist by clicking on the remix button a few times. If there are mess then 10 tracks you shoudl adjust your SMARTMIX settings and/or add more media
  • Remember to re-index your Centova media when you add new mp3's (top right of SHOUTcast Widgets panel)
  • If you DO NOT WANT TO RU ADS, it's recommended you set your Smartmix playlist as Immediate and In Order. Using this method works best with the next tracks feature to determine what songs are coming up.
  • Smartmix is designed to insert more then enough tracks for each 30 minute block. Should there be a problem, there will be enough music in the playlist for a couple hours and repeat if needed. This would not be typical behavior however and we ask you please notify our support department if you notice this happening. If your stream happens to go down for more then 5 minutes, your SHOUTcast Widgets cron would need to be reset (cron manager top right of your panel)
  • If you every add new media to your Centova library, you can click on the Re-Index Button on the dashboard. In addition to Smartmix, this is also used in the Quick Play widget
  • The system learns from the listeners and makes use of the like/dislike system by counting votes and searching for related artist for liked artists and playing less of dislikes.
