Simulcasting Print

  • 0

Simulcasting sends your channel's output to other platforms at the same time, around the clock. It carries both scheduled and live programming.

How simulcasting works

Each enabled target runs continuously and mirrors whatever your channel is airing: scheduled programming, ad breaks, station IDs, and live broadcasts. When you go live or stop, the target keeps running without a gap or reconnect, so the platform sees one unbroken stream.

Supported platforms

Platform Carries What you need
Facebook Live Video + audio Stream key. The server URL is pre-filled.
YouTube Live Video + audio Stream key. The server URL is pre-filled.
Twitch Video + audio Stream key. The server URL is pre-filled.
Kick Video + audio Server URL and stream key from Kick's dashboard
Custom RTMP Video + audio Any RTMP/RTMPS server URL and stream key
Icecast (hosted on this server) Audio only Nothing. It's set up for you.
Icecast (external server) Audio only Host, port, mount point, username, and source password

Add a target

  1. Open the channel's Simulcast tab.
  2. Choose a Platform, and optionally add a Label such as "Main YouTube channel".
  3. Paste the Stream key from the platform's live dashboard, and fill in or check the Server URL.
  4. Add the target. It starts connecting within a few seconds.
Kick: Kick's dashboard often shows a server URL without the /app/ path it needs. Paste it exactly as shown, and /app/ is added for you.
YouTube and Facebook: for 24/7 output, use a persistent stream key rather than a key for a one-off scheduled event that expires after one broadcast.

Icecast audio streams

Icecast targets send the channel's audio only, which is useful for radio-style listening or smart speakers.

  • Hosted on this server: there's nothing to fill in. After you add it, its listen URL is shown so you can share it.
  • External server: enter the Icecast Host, Port (usually 8000), Mount point (for example /stream), Username (usually source), Source password, and audio Format.

Status and editing

Status Meaning
???? Pushing Connected and sending.
Connecting… Starting up or reconnecting.
? Error The platform rejected the connection. Hover over the badge for the reason. Usually the key is wrong or expired, or streaming isn't enabled on the platform's side.
Disabled Switched off but kept for later.

Use a target's Enabled checkbox to pause or resume it. Changes apply within a few seconds, even in the middle of a broadcast. To change a target's URL or key, delete the target and add it again.

Bandwidth

Each video target uses about as much upload bandwidth as the channel's video plus audio bitrate, 24 hours a day. For example, three targets on a 3000 kbps channel use about 9.5 Mbps continuously. Keep an eye on the Network reading in the panel's monitor bar after you add targets.
