Use schedule blocks to air particular playlists at particular times: weekly shows, one-off specials, and overnight programming.
How the schedule decides what plays
A schedule block is one rule: play a playlist, during a time window, on certain days of the week or on a specific date. At any moment, the channel airs:
- A live broadcast, if you're streaming one. Live always wins.
- Otherwise, the winning schedule block that covers the current time.
- Otherwise, the ? default playlist.
All times use the channel's Schedule Timezone, which is set on the Settings tab. Daylight saving time is handled automatically. The Scheduler tab shows the current time in that timezone.
Wheel, Calendar, and List views
| View | Best for |
|---|---|
| ???? Wheel | One day shown as a 24-hour clock, with midnight at the top. On today's wheel, a red hand marks the current time. |
| ???? Calendar | A whole week shown as columns. You can drag blocks to new times or days. |
| ? List | Every block in a table. |
Use the week arrows to move between weeks. Visual cues:
- A block's colored edge matches its playlist.
- A dashed edge marks a one-off, specific-date block.
- ? means the block continues past midnight.
- A striped slice on the wheel has another block underneath it that loses the overlap. If that isn't what you intended, check the priorities.
Create a block
The quickest way is to click an empty slot on the Wheel or Calendar. This fills in the form for you. Or fill in the Schedule a new block form yourself:
- When: choose Every week, on… and pick one or more days, or choose Just once, on a specific date and pick the date. Then set the Start time and End time. If you pick several days, the same block is created on each one.
- What: choose the Playlist. Optionally, add a Label such as "Morning News". The label is shown in the programming guide. Without a label, the guide shows the playlist name.
- Priority: leave this at 0 unless the block is meant to overlap another one.
- Save the block.
Edit, move, or delete a block
Click a block in any view to open it in the form, then change and save it, or delete it. On the Calendar view, you can also drag a block to a new time or day. You can't change an existing block from weekly to one-off or the other way round. Delete it and create a new one instead.
Overlaps and priority
When blocks cover the same time, the winner is decided in this order:
- A specific-date block always beats a weekly block.
- The block with the higher priority number wins.
- If the priorities are equal, the shorter, more specific block wins.
Because of rule 3, a short special inside a longer block already wins without you changing any priorities.
Examples
| Goal | How |
|---|---|
| Morning show every weekday | A weekly block with Monday to Friday selected, 07:00–09:00, playlist "Morning Show". |
| Holiday special that replaces normal programming | A specific-date block on that date. It beats the weekly blocks automatically. |
| Overnight music | A weekly block on every day, 23:00–06:00, playlist "Night Mix" with auto-shuffle set to every day. |
| Fill everything else | Leave it unscheduled. The ? default playlist covers any gaps. |
