Cast Bridge Troubleshooting Print

  • 0

Most problems can be found from the stream card on the Streams page and the stream's Logs. Start there, then check the questions below.

Reading the stream card

  • active: running normally.
  • activating: starting up, or reconnecting to your source.
  • inactive: stopped. Click Start.
  • failed: it stopped with an error. Open Logs.
  • restarts: how often the stream has restarted. A number that keeps rising usually means the source keeps dropping.

The stream won't start, or keeps restarting

  • Click Original on the stream card. If the original doesn't play, the problem is your source: check that your encoder is connected and the address is right.
  • Check the source address format. Shoutcast v1 needs the base address ending in /;, for example http://host:port/;. Shoutcast v2 uses http://host:port/stream.
  • Some hosts block unknown players. Ask your source host to allow our server, or use another mount.
  • Open Logs and look at the last lines. "Connection refused", "404" or "timed out" all point to the source.

I hear "This sound is processed by Thimeo Stereo Tool"

Stereo Tool has no licence key for that stream. Add one under Settings (all streams) or in the stream's Stereo Tool section, or switch to a free recipe. Each running Stereo Tool stream needs its own licence. See Using Stereo Tool: Licence Keys, Presets and Live Tuning.

The song title doesn't show

  • Tick Pass through now-playing titles in the stream's settings and save.
  • Check that your encoder or AutoDJ sends titles. Click Original and see whether a player shows the title.
  • Opus outputs carry titles inside the audio, so some players and widgets show them differently. Add an MP3 or AAC output for the widest support.

The sound is distorted, pumping or too loud

  • Use only one main processor (Broadcast, master_me in Full mode, or Stereo Tool).
  • Try a gentler recipe, lower Extra loudness, or a lower loudness target.
  • For a low-bitrate source (96k or below), use a Stereo Tool Repair preset or the master_me Low-bitrate recipe.
  • Compare with A/B listen and Level-match on, so loudness doesn't fool your ears.

The stream doesn't play on a website or in an app

  • Websites need the HTTPS link (https://.../listen/yourmount). Browsers block plain http audio on https sites.
  • Browsers can play MP3 and AAC. Some, especially on Apple devices, can't play Opus.
  • Older hardware players may need the HTTP link on port 8000 instead.

My custom domain shows an error

See Using Your Own Domain. Most often the DNS record isn't pointing at us yet, Cloudflare's orange proxy is on, or there's an old AAAA record. Fix the DNS, wait a few minutes and click Check DNS & install SSL again.

I can't add another stream, output or bitrate

You've reached a limit of your plan. The Streams page shows how many streams you have left and your plan's maximum bitrate and outputs per stream. To upgrade, use Upgrade/Downgrade on your service in the client area, or open a ticket.

Do listeners hear a gap when I change settings?

Yes, a short one. Saving settings restarts the stream, which takes 2 to 5 seconds. Most players reconnect by themselves.

Does CastBridge record or store my audio?

No. Audio is processed live and passed straight on to your listeners.

Still stuck?

Open a support ticket. Tell us the stream name, what you expected and what happened, and paste the last 20 lines from the stream's Logs.
