Roku Packager Print

CastBridge builds a Roku TV app for your station. It starts playing as soon as it opens and shows the current artist, song and album art on the TV. With several stations you can build one network channel: viewers pick a station from a grid and press Back to switch.

Roku plays your stream's MP3 output, so each station needs one. Stations without an MP3 output are listed as not included.

Build the channel

  1. Click Roku in the top menu.
  2. Choose the Channel type (shown when you have more than one station):
    • Network channel: tick the stations to include, in the order shown. Reopen on the station the viewer listened to last is on by default.
    • One station: pick the station; the channel opens straight into its player.
  3. Under Look, enter the Channel name, pick background, highlight and text colours, and optionally upload a Channel logo. Square PNG works best: it becomes the channel poster on the Roku home screen, the splash screen and the cover when a song has no album art.
  4. Click Download Roku package (.zip).

Without a channel logo, the station logo from the Listings page is used. Network station tiles use each station's own logo.

Install it on your Roku

  1. On the Roku remote, press Home ×3, Up ×2, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right to turn on developer mode. Set a password and let the Roku restart.
  2. On a computer on the same network, open the address the Roku shows (like http://192.168.1.20) and sign in as rokudev with that password.
  3. Choose Upload, pick the .zip you downloaded, then Install. The channel opens and starts playing.

Publish it in the Roku Channel Store

Use Packager on the same Roku page to turn the channel into a signed .pkg file, then upload it in your Roku developer account. Roku reviews channels before they appear in the store.

Updating your channel: if you change stations, colours or logos, download a new package with a higher Version (for example 1.0.1) and install or publish it again.
