Now Playing Widget Print

  • 0

Show what's on air on your website with two widgets:

  • Now Playing: the current song with the artist's photo, genre chips and biography.
  • Last Played: a list or photo grid of recent songs, with how long ago each one played.

Both fit any width, from phones to full-width banners, and update by themselves. Open them with the Widgets button on the stream card.

Song titles

Artist photos and biographies come from the free SHOUTcast Widgets Artist Library. To be matched, your song titles need the Artist - Title format, which most broadcast software sends by default. Make sure Pass through now-playing titles is ticked in the stream's settings.

Style them

  • Look (both widgets): theme, accent, background and text colours, corner rounding, a Google Font and how often they refresh. Listen live button adds a button that opens your Luna pop-up player.
  • Now Playing: layout (automatic, always stacked, or a compact banner), blurred artist photo backdrop, genre chips, biography with Read more, and your station logo and name.
  • Last Played: heading, list or photo grid, number of songs (3 to 19), artist photos and times.

Switch the Live preview between Now Playing and Last Played, and between Phone, Tablet and Full width. Click Save when you're happy.

Put them on your website

  1. Choose Now Playing or Last Played above the preview.
  2. In Embed code, keep the Website tab and click Copy.
  3. Paste the code into your page where the widget should appear.

The code has two parts: the widget itself and a small script line that grows the widget to fit its content. With both widgets on one page, you only need the script line once.

Other tabs: Direct link (the widget on its own page), JSON feed (the same data for developers building their own design, CORS enabled) and OBS (browser source settings for overlays).

Good to know:
  • Saved settings apply to every copy on your site. Tick Lock this look into the code to freeze the current look into one copy instead.
  • The Artist Library asks sites that show its photos and biographies to credit it. Keep the credit line on unless you credit it elsewhere on the page.
  • Not every artist is in the library. Songs without a match show without a photo or biography.
