Besides serving listeners itself, CastBridge can push your processed stream to another server, for example an Icecast or Shoutcast server at another host, a partner network, or a CDN. CastBridge connects to that server as a source, the same way your encoder would. This is available on plans that include Push to external servers.
Add an external output
- Open the stream's Edit page and go to Outputs.
- Click + Add output.
- Choose the Format and Bitrate the other server expects.
- Leave Local mount empty and fill in ...or external target:
- Icecast:
icecast://source:PASSWORD@host:port/mount - Shoutcast DNAS:
shout://source:PASSWORD@host:port/mount
- Icecast:
- Click Save & apply.
Replace PASSWORD with the source (broadcast) password the other server gave you, and host:port/mount with its address. On the Streams page the output shows as an arrow to that host.
Example
To send MP3 128k to an Icecast server at radio.example.com, port 8000, mount /live, with source password hackme:
icecast://source:[email protected]:8000/live
Good to know:
- Each external output counts towards your plan's outputs per stream.
- The bitrate list is limited to your plan's maximum.
- If a push stops working, check the stream's Logs. "Unauthorized" or "403" usually means a wrong password or a mount that's already in use.
- Don't push back to the same server your source comes from with the same mount, or the stream feeds itself.
