Icecast / Shoutcast Servers Print

  • 0

Every CastBridge account comes with its own Icecast server and its own Shoutcast DNAS v2 server, each on its own port. They carry all your running streams automatically, for players, apps and directories that expect a classic radio server.

Where to find them

Open Settings and scroll to Your streaming servers. For each server you'll see:

  • Status page (Icecast) or Server address (Shoutcast), for example https://your-domain:7123/.
  • Admin page: log in as user admin.
  • Admin password, with a Copy button.
  • A table of your streams with their Icecast and Shoutcast addresses.

The servers start by themselves with your first running stream. The badge shows running or idle.

HTTP and HTTPS on the same port

Every streaming port answers both https:// and http://. Use https for browsers and apps, and http for older hardware players. Your client-area service page lists both server addresses too.

Your own domain

Once you add a custom domain with SSL (see Using Your Own Domain), your servers are announced on your domain instead of ours, for example https://stream.yourradio.com:7123/.

What you can do on the admin pages

  • See who is listening right now.
  • Kick or ban listeners.
  • Shoutcast: create the free authhash a station needs for the Shoutcast directory (Create Authhash under the stream). See Listing Your Station in the Icecast and SHOUTcast Directories.
Good to know:
  • The Shoutcast server carries streams that have an MP3 or AAC output. Opus streams appear on Icecast only.
  • Because connections pass through our secure front end, the Icecast and Shoutcast admin pages show every listener's address as 127.0.0.1. Listener counts are correct, and the panel's Stats page adds up all your listeners for you.
  • Need a different port? Open a ticket. When a port changes, players and directory listings must use the new one.
