Mixxx Free DJ Software

Mixxx is free and open-source DJ software that also supports live broadcasting via Icecast and Shoutcast servers. It is recommended to use Icecast 2 mode when broadcasting to AzuraCast.

Out of the box, Mixxx does not include the LAME MP3 encoder for licensing reasons but this is not needed. Set your broadcast format to Ogg Vorbis and Liquidsoap will transcode the broadcast into the correct output format on the server.

   Go to Options → Preferences to open the Live Broadcasting settings panel.

   Set Type to Icecast 2.

   Set Format to Ogg Vorbis Liquidsoap will transcode on the server side.

   Enter your Host, Port, Mount, Login and Password from the AzuraCast Streamers / DJ Accounts connection info page.

   Click Enable Live Broadcasting and connect.

BUTTM Broadcast Using This Tool Modernized

BUTTM is the spiritual successor to BUTT with a modernised UI. It is available for a one-time fee. Either edition is compatible with AzuraCast; however, the Standard edition is limited to 128 kbps. Icecast mode is recommended.

   Click Server Manager on the main app panel.

   Click the + button in the bottom-left corner to add a new server.

   In Type, select Icecast.

   In Address, enter the server hostname from your AzuraCast connection info.

   Fill in Port, Mountpoint (usually /), Username, and Password from the connection info page.

   Save and connect to start your live broadcast.

RadioBOSS

RadioBOSS is a commercial radio automation suite. Live broadcasting is available in the Standard and Advanced editions (not Express). Icecast mode is recommended. The Configuration Wizard makes setup easy.

   In the top menu bar, go to Settings → Options.

   In the Settings window select Broadcast on the left.

   Click the + button to add a new encoder.

   In the Encoder window, click Configuration Wizard.

   Select Icecast 1 & 2 and click Next.

   Enter the credentials from your AzuraCast panel (server, port, mount, username, password).

   Click Finish, then adjust encoding settings (sample rate, bitrate, channels) as preferred.

   Click OK to save. Back in the Settings window, check the encoder checkbox and enable Broadcasting enabled at the top.

Rocket Broadcaster

Rocket Broadcaster is a robust streaming encoder for Windows designed for internet radio stations and professional broadcasting. It captures audio from microphones, line-in devices and other applications and streams directly to your AzuraCast station.

   Configure Audio Input: Go to Options → Preferences. In the Audio Input tab, select your microphone or audio interface and set the sample rate to 44100 Hz. Configure System Audio Capture if needed, then click OK.

   Configure Your Stream: Go to Broadcast → Streams€¦ and click Add. Select Icecast 2 as the Server Type and enter your AzuraCast hostname, port, mountpoint, username and password. Choose your codec (MP3 or Ogg Vorbis), bitrate and channels, then click OK.

   Test Your Stream: Click Start Broadcast in the main window. A successful connection shows "On Air". If you see an error, double-check your stream settings.

   Metadata (Optional): Go to Broadcast → Metadata Capture and configure it to automatically pull song/artist info from your media player or automation system.
